Spinach Dip and Biracial Babies

Yes, I know my titles are not conventional, but they catch your attention right??? About a month ago I joined a "meetup" for Multicultural people living in Charlotte. You may be asking what meetup is, without giving the site too much of an advertisement it is a website that has tons of different groups all over the country (if not the world.) Meetup.com was especially helpful for me being a stay-at-home mom and being new to North Carolina.

Anyway, Joel and I thought it would be a good idea to meet other families like ours for support and for Avery to be able to relate to other kids like her. It's definitely nice because of all of the questions we have not only being new parents but being new parents to a multiracial child and also being in a biracial relationship.

We were invited to the organizers house which was a little bit of a drive, but thought it'd be nice to explore since we haven't gotten out much. I made spinach and artichoke dip for the first time that turned out pretty tasty. We had some great chili, met some awesome families and shared all kinds of stories, from how kids change as they get older to living in Northern Virginia and New York.

We had a blast and definitely plan on getting out more often and hopefully building some great friendships here.
